Genomic Testing Cooperative’s cooperative model is designed to help qualified laboratories bring advanced oncology NGS testing in-house while sharing expertise, resources, data, and best practices. Through this model, laboratories can expand molecular testing capabilities, improve standardization, and participate in a collaborative framework built around quality, innovation, and shared clinical insight.
Anthology Diagnostics was the first laboratory to utilize GTC’s cooperative business model to internalize Next-Generation Sequencing testing for oncology, including both DNA and RNA analysis. Developed to support comprehensive genomic profiling for the Hackensack Meridian Health cancer patient population and physicians in the greater New Jersey area, this collaboration demonstrates how the GTC co-op model can help laboratories build advanced molecular testing capacity while remaining connected to a broader network of expertise and innovation.
Many laboratories recognize the clinical value of comprehensive genomic profiling but face significant challenges when trying to bring advanced NGS testing in-house. Instrumentation, reagents, validation, training, interpretation, informatics, medical expertise, and ongoing test development can create barriers that are difficult to manage independently.
GTC’s cooperative model was created to address these challenges. Instead of each laboratory building every component alone, the model allows participating laboratories to share selected resources, best practices, data, expertise, and development pathways. The goal is to make high-quality molecular testing more collaborative, more standardized, and more cost-effective.
Anthology Diagnostics represents the co-op model in action. As the first laboratory to utilize GTC’s cooperative business model, Anthology Diagnostics internalized oncology-focused Next-Generation Sequencing testing with support for both DNA and RNA analysis.
The collaboration was built around a shared vision: to provide comprehensive genomic profiling for cancer patients, support physicians with advanced molecular information, and strengthen access to high-quality testing within the Hackensack Meridian Health network and the greater New Jersey region.

Samples from each lab would have identical results reports with info on detected genomic alterations with reference levels, tumor heterogeneity, expression levels, therapeutic recommendations and clinical trial options
Patients who undergo testing will be given a precision diagnosis of their disease and subclassification. They will be given the best chance to be matched to a precision medicine based on their tumor’s signature or enrolled in a clinical trial. Most importantly patients will be contributing to the knowledge base of cancer to help everyone who gets a cancer diagnosis
